On Thursday, seven men were taken into custody after they were caught on camera gang-raping a woman in a Bomet village.

This comes after a video of a lady being gang-raped by males in a residence went viral on social media.

The woman can be heard screaming in the footage that the Star saw, even as the group tries to get her to participate.

A three-minute video purportedly showing the accused gang-raping a woman at Chebanyiny village in Chepalungu subcounty went viral on social media on Wednesday, leading to the culprits’ arrest.

The video has now been named Sigor Boys.

Two of the suspects have been positively recognized in the video as having done the horrifying deed, according to Bomet Police Commander Robinson Ndiwa.

“The event happened in December of last year, but we have arrested the seven suspects. Since the woman failed to notify the police, we are currently searching for her so that she can help us with our investigations, Ndiwa stated.

He continued by saying that in response to the alleged dissemination of pornographic videos in Chebanyiny village in the Kimaya sub-location, the police, in collaboration with the local chief and nyumba kumi elders, undertook an operation in the region and successfully made arrests.

They were positively recognized as two. The police added that they are still in the process of obtaining more suspects.

Police added that if the investigation continues, they would present the suspects in court and request an extension of their detention.

He stated, “The suspects have been placed in police custody for questioning and other purposes to support additional investigation.”

Richard Ngeno, the head of the Myoot Council of Elders, denounced the action and declared that those responsible would be held accountable by the law.

“It is not appropriate for the youth to participate in such actions.”We are counseling the young people not to partake in illegal activities,” he declared.
He cautioned the young people about the stuff they view on social media, stating that if left unchecked, it may encourage drug use and sexual abuse.

The incident which happened in December 2023 has been condemned online with many calling for stringent measures to address such incidents.

More detectives were sent to the area to pursue the matter.
