June Moi Chebet, the final child born to former President Daniel Moi, passed away at the age of sixty.
On Thursday, April 11, 2024, early in the morning, June’s relatives confirmed her death. The reason of death has not yet been disclosed.
The family has asked for privacy as they process her passing after her passing.
We regret to inform you of our dear friend June Chebet Moi’s demise this morning. We ask for your prayers and privacy at this difficult time as our family comes to terms with our sister’s untimely death. Part of the family’s statement said, “May her soul rest in eternal peace.”
The last of Moi’s eight children, June Chebet was his adopted daughter.
Leaders from all throughout the world, including President William Ruto, sent the family condolences.
The Head of State sent his deepest sympathies and prayed for the family’s fortitude during these difficult times in his statement.
“I send my sincere sympathies to the late President Daniel Arap Moi’s family on June Chebet Moi’s passing. I pray that God gives you courage at this trying time. June, rest in peace,” he remarked.
Along with the president, Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja expressed his condolences to the family.
“Gideon Moi, my deepest condolences to you and your extended family on the passing of your sister June. May you find strength and solace in God’s grace during this difficult time. You are in my thoughts,” Sakaja expressed sympathetically.
