As he opened the first Maasai Cultural Week in Narok on Tuesday, President William Ruto made a significant cultural statement by dressing in traditional Maasai garb.
The occasion is occurring at Sekenani in the scenic Maasai Mara region and coincides with the yearly wildebeest migration.
President Ruto was warmly welcomed by a welcoming team that includes Governor Patrick Ole Ntutu of Narok, Jonathan Leleit of Samburu, and Ole Lenku of Kajiado when they arrived in Narok for the formal start of the cultural week.
Along with Governors Ntutu and Leleit, he set off on a game drive-like vehicle to begin the event, traveling through the breathtaking Maasai Mara landscapes.
President Ruto then changed into a maroon kaunda, which attracted a lot of people’s attention.
