The annual Madaraka Day national celebrations at Moi Stadium Embu were missed by prominent opposition figures, including Raila Odinga, the head of Azimio.

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka was the sole opposition figure present during Ruto’s first national day celebration, which was held at Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi on October 20, 2022 to commemorate Mashujaa Day.

Raila departed the country on October 16, 2022, and traveled to India few days before the celebrations.

It’s not the first time, though, that the opposition leaders have snubbed such a significant occasion.

On December 12, 2022, Raila left the country to travel to the United States, hence she missed the Jamhuri Day celebration as well.

At the 60th anniversary of Madarka Day, President William Ruto will preside over the country.
