Roads closed, traffic diverted around Namugongo ahead of martyrs day

The police have diverted the traffic Flow around Namugongo ahead of 3 june martyrs day celebration.

According to SSP Patrick Onyango, the Kampala metropolitan spokesperson, on Wednesday , security agencies had an on-site meeting at Anglican worship center to plan for 3 June 2024 security and resolved that starting Wednesday night, the road from Kyaliwajjala to Sonde will be reserved for pedestrians only and all Motorists will be diverted as follows;

1 Motorists using Seeta – Sonde Road will be diverted at Catholic Mbalwa Road junction and they will come out at Agenda 2000.

  1. Motorists from Nalya to Kyaliwajjala will be diverted at Kyaliwajjala junction and they will use Semambro Road.
  2. Motorists from Kireka to Kyaliwajjala will be diverted at Agenda 2000 and they will use Mbalwa Road.
  3. Motorists from Jinja heading to Capital City should drive direct to the City centre they should NOT use Seeta – Namugongo Road.
  4. The diversion will be in place up to 3 June 2024.

However, they advised the public to plan their journey early as they expect traffic jam around the areas of Namugongo.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused by these diversions,” Onyango said.
