Man catches with bodaboda rider, kills her

The Territorial Police in Wakiso District have detained a 33-year-old man suspected of stabbing his wife after discovering her with another man at their home over the weekend.

ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan Police, confirmed the incident which took place on Saturday, May 19, at Nsinze-Mulume village, Masuulita sub-county, Wakiso district.

The suspect identified as Mesarch Ssekanjako, aged 33, is accused of killing his 33 year old wife Proscovia Nakyanzi.

According to Owoyesigyire, Nakyanzi arrived home around 9 p.m. with a man named Ivan. Ssekanjako allegedly found them together, resulting in a confrontation during which Ssekanjako reportedly grabbed a knife and fatally cut Nakyanzi’s neck.

Nakyanzi’s body was found around 10 a.m. on Sunday in the yard. A police sniffer dog led detectives to Ssekanjako’s mother’s home, where they recovered washed trousers for DNA testing. Ssekanjako’s shirt, stained with what is suspected to be the victim’s blood, was also found at the scene. Upon arrest, Ssekanjako had fresh cuts and bite marks on his right hand.

Owoyesigyire noted that the altercation appeared to have started inside the couple’s double-roomed house, which was found in disarray with blood stains in both the living room and bedroom.

Ssekanjako and his mother have been detained at Kakiri police station as the investigation continues.

The suspected murder weapon is believed to have been discarded in the toilet, and all evidence collected has been sent for forensic DNA analysis. Owoyesigyire advised couples to resolve marital disputes peacefully.
